This news piece originally stated the dock could deliver 350 watts for the GPU installed thanks to its 500 W PSU. It appears these values were quietly revised by the product maker to 650 and 800, respectively.
Slightly edited article contunues as follows:
Aoostar is quite widely recognized in the mini PC arena, and the brand is no stranger to eGPU docking solutions either. Following in the footsteps of its recently announced AG01, Aoostar has now unveiled the updated AG02 graphics dock. The design remains largely identical to its predecessor, although the minor tweaks are not hard to notice.
The Aoostar AG02 measures 22.5 cm x 11 cm x 6 cm while tipping the scales at 1.5 kg or 3.3 lbs. As the title suggests, the product, like many others currently available on the market, features an OCuLink interface for a maximum transfer speed of 64 GT/s, which is considerably higher than USB4 v1. Thanks to the exposed PCIe slot, the AG02 can house a graphics card with a maximum power consumption of 650 watts, courtesy of its 800 W built-in power supply which, thankfully, happens to be user-accessible. Apart from this, the product also features a USB4 port with 100 watts of power delivery, ensuring that connected devices stay juiced.
As of right now (Dec 08, 2024), the AG02 graphics dock is available for pre-order from Aoostar. Shipments are scheduled to commence toward the end of next month, with a price tag of $219. It is worth noting that the AG02 does not feature any onboard storage or additional connectivity functionalities. However, that can be forgiven considering its price.
