Leak details the first Geekom mini PC with Snapdragon X Elite processor
Although the Snapdragon X series of processors have been around for a while, it didn't see much of a mini PC adoption. Yes, Qualcomm itself did announce one, which was even available to pre-order. However, soon after the orders started to roll in, the company canceled it, and Qualcomm has been pretty quiet about it ever since.
A recent leak from Weibo revealed that Geekom is preparing to release a Snapdragon X Elite mini PC. As per that leak, it would be within a new lineup called the QS series, but not much about the internals was shared in that specific report. Now, a new leak from a Spanish outlet called El Chapuzas Informatico has revealed all the core specs of the system.
Per the new leak, the Geekom QS1 Pro will feature the Snapdragon X Elite X1E-80-100. This is one of the top-end processors available within the lineup, and it comes with 12 Oryon cores. While its main disadvantage in terms of performance is not having proper support from developers, the X Elite processors shine in terms of power efficiency.
Nonetheless, according to the new leak, the QS1 Pro will pair the Snapdragon X Elite processor with up to 64 GB of RAM and 2 TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD (2 TB Samsung 990 Pro curr. $159.99 on Amazon). It also suggests that there will be a decent number of ports, including three USB 3.2 Gen 2, one USB 4, one DisplayPort 1.4, and one HDMI 2.0.
Even though Geekom has yet to officially announce the QS1 Pro, rumors suggest that this Snapdragon X Elite mini PC will be priced between €700 and €800. While that's close to what laptops with the same processor go for, an AMD Strix Point mini PC can offer better overall performance at around the same price point.
