The mini PC landscape is one that hardly ever stands still, allowing us to witness a vast assortment of systems targeted at distinct and arguably intriguing use cases. Topton's X4H-XL mini PC is one such system, introduced with those in sight who have considerable networking demands.
The system itself is no powerhouse, sporting either an Intel Core i3-N305 'Alder Lake-N' CPU or a less potent 4-core Intel N100 at its core, paired with up to 32 GB of single-channel DDR5-4800 RAM. While not a screamer by any stretch, the 8-core i3-N305 promises decent performance that will likely satiate most non-intensive use cases. The guts of the computer sit inside a 7" x 5" x 2.2" passively cooled chassis with optional active cooling for its higher-specced sibling.
Coming to its main selling point - connectivity - we get to encounter impressive networking capabilities. The system sports dual 10 GbE SFP+ optical ports, along with dual 2.5 GbE Ethernet ports. Other ports include dual HDMI 2.0, USB 3.2 Gen 1 in Type-A and Type-C flavors, a microSD card reader, and quad USB 2.0 Type-A ports. Storage requirements are taken care of by an M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 slot, while wireless capabilities can be added via the M.2 2230 slot.
The system is available for purchase from AliExpress and commands a price tag of around $204 for the barebones version, with prices going up to $500 for the highest-end variant with the i3-N305 processor, 32 GB of memory, and 1 TB of NVMe storage. Those who do not have extreme networking requirements, will likely be better served by something like the Beelink EQR6 mini PC with a Ryzen 6600H APU, priced at $349 on Amazon as of this writing.
