A few months have passed since Roland Quandt revealed early details about 'Project Glymur'. In summary, the leaker believed that Project Glymur is the working codename for second-generation Snapdragon X Elite chipsets, as well as 'SC8480XP'. Since then, Qualcomm offered a few hints about the so-called Snapdragon X Elite Gen 2 or Snapdragon X Elite 2 last month during Snapdragon Summit 2024.
Specifically, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon teased that next-generation Snapdragon X series chipsets will be 'truly incredible' and will bring 'excitement back to computing performance'. Additionally, Amon more or less confirmed that Snapdragon X Elite 2 parts would utilise Oryon V3 cores, which Quandt noticed in mid-October.

Now, the well-known leaker reports that Qualcomm may have bigger plans for Project Glymur than lightweight laptops. Allegedly, Qualcomm is testing prototypes with an All in One (AiO) 120 mm cooler. Thus, Quandt has inferred that 'Qualcomm is coming for the desktop', rather than just improving upon first-generation Snapdragon X series chipsets.
To that end, there were rumours earlier this year that Qualcomm had been developing the server-grade SD1 with 80 Oryon V1 cores on a 98.0 x 95.0 mm package. Potentially, the Oryon V3 prototype described by Quandt could be an evolution of the SD1 in one form or another. In the meantime, Qualcomm is expected to deliver Snapdragon X chipsets for OEMs targeting sub-$600 laptops.
