The Aoostar WTR Pro NAS is now available in a new configuration. The system was already on sale in several versions with APUs from different manufacturers, but now the Intel-powered mini PC can also be ordered with the N150 and not just the Intel N100.
Needless to say, the basic concept does not change, and neither the Intel N150 nor the N100 are particularly powerful processors extremely powerful. But since the WTR Pro is not marketed as a workstation, the speed should suffice for regular NAS applications.
The storage device measures 9 x 5.9 x 7.3 inches and can accommodate a total of five mass storage devices: a single M.2 2280 solid-state drive plus four SATA HDDs or SSDs. The corresponding slots can be occupied with 3.5-inch drives, which means that large amounts of data can be stored by relying on traditional spinning hard drives.
Typical for a consumer-grade NAS, the WTR Pro offers two Ethernet ports with 2.5 GBit/s. Regardless of how fast the installed hard drives or SSDs are, the actual transfer speeds are often limited by the network connection. The device can be retrofitted with a Wi-Fi card as well.
This Aoostar NAS can also be used as a mini-PC because it offers HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort and USB Type C in terms of connectivity. Moreover, there are two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports, an SD card reader and 3.5mm headphone jack are also available.
As part of the ongoing pre-order promotion, the Aoostar WTR Pro can be snatched for $315. This barebone configuration comes without memory or an SSD. With 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD, the mini PC can be purchased for $379.
