GMKtec has now released its latest eGPU globally, having presented the device less than a month ago. To recap, the AD-GP joins the ranks of many modern eGPUs with an AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT graphics card commonly found in mid-range gaming laptops.
The GPU in question may have now been surpassed by the Radeon RX 7800M, which can be found in the OneXGPU 2 (curr. $999.95 on Amazon), among other devices. Nonetheless, its Navi 33 GPU still makes it powerful enough to play triple-A titles at 1080p or 1440p in some circumstances. Please note that this will only be true when connecting the AD-GP via OCuLink, which utilises PCIe 4.0 x4.
By contrast, performance losses will occur when using USB4, which GMKtec offsets by 100 W device charging. Please note that while the company reports that the eGPU also contains an SD card reader, four USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports and RJ45 Ethernet connection, it seems these were mentioned in error. Both inputs provide access to the DisplayPort 2.0 and HDMI 2.1 ports that GMKtec has included, of which there are two apiece.
The AD-GP1 is currently available for $459.99 when purchased from GMKtec directly. Alternatively, the eGPU can be picked up on Amazon for its full $599.99 MSRP before applying coupon code GMKTECPC5 for a 5% discount. Please see GMKtec's website for more details.
