Philips is about to launch a new 34-inch Evnia gaming monitor, the 34M2C5501A. This is an ultrawide model with a curved VA panel offering up to an 180Hz refresh rate. Other features include built-in speakers, support for AMD FreeSync and Ambiglow for dynamic RGB lighting.

The Philips Evnia 34M2C5501A, a curved gaming monitor, will soon launch in Europe. The Evnia 5000 model has a 34-inch (~86 cm) display with a 21:9 aspect ratio. It uses a 1500R VA panel with an UltraWide Quad HD resolution (3,440 x 1,440 px) and a 180Hz refresh rate.

Philips lists the brightness of the 34M2C5501A as 300 nits (SDR) or 400 nits (HDR), the typical contrast ratio as 4,000:1 and the pixel density at 109.68 PPI. Plus, the monitor has 95% and 91% coverage of the DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB color gamuts, respectively. The company states that there is a 1 ms gray to gray response time and support for AMD FreeSync for reduced screen tearing. A more unusual aspect of the gaming monitor is the three-sided Ambiglow RGB lighting, with effects linked to the video or audio of your game. This feature is already available on other models like the Momentum 329M1RV, currently $899.99 at Amazon.

There are built-in 5W stereo speakers and ports such as two HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.4, USB 3.2 Gen 1 and a headphone jack. It is worth noting that, while DisplayPort supports the WQHD resolution at 180Hz, HDMI is capped at 100Hz for this resolution. The Philips Evnia 34M2C5501A curved gaming monitor is expected to retail for £299.99/€379.99 in Europe. Retailers like Proshop in Germany indicate that the product could be released in around two weeks' time.
