The best thing the MediaPad Lite M5 has going for it is its colorful 1080p display and its quad speakers. Both are great for media consuming while the kids mode features aren’t bad if you regulate your kids to that section of the tablet. For some slight day to day you can get by and kids using it for watching their fave YT or movies will be okay. Trying to do a good deal of multitasking it wouldn’t handle the best. Its at a fairly good price though available for $299.99 which once again includes the stylus.

At $299 it’s a solid competitor to Apple’s $329 iPad. For Android families who want a capable machine for entertaining the household, the Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite is up to the task.

Though it isn't perfect, the Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite is one of the better midrange Android tablets you can buy.

It's a lower-specced (but barely cheaper) version of last year's tablet that might find a niche audience in parents who want a controlled environment for their kids' screen time.

This device certainly cannot compete with the top of the tablet market; your iPad Pros, Pixel Slates, Windows detachables, et al. But as a device for very casual media consumption, light creative work, and family use, it does its job well. It’s got a good screen, even better speakers, solid battery life, and an accessible software experience.

Model: The Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite is a new mid-range tablet that boasts of an aluminum unibody and a quartet of speakers. Buyers will receive a fancy-looking mid-range tablet with LTE support. The new tablet is built around a Kirin 659 processor and runs on EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. This has a different settings structure and customized apps for telephoning, messaging, the gallery etc. compared to stock Android. The device features a 10-inch 16:10 display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels. The tablet comes in two configurations which are 3 GB/32 GB and 4 GB/64 GB. It is available in Champagne Gold and Space Grey color variants. The MediaPad M5 Lite features a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels, and an aspect ratio of 16:10. The average brightness is 492.2 cd/m², which is higher than those of other comparable tablets in this price range. The display does not reflect surrounding objects too much and screen content can be read easily. However, reflections become very strong under direct sunlight or a blue sky. The IPS panel of the MediaPad M5 lite has very stable viewing angles. Screen content can be read without distortions or falsified colors from almost all angles. Huawei has given the MediaPad M5 lite a metal case with a small decorative seam on the back. The top and bottom edges of the tablet have a lot of holes for the four speakers, as well as additional openings for the microphone along the top. This means that there is a row of holes all along the top of the device.
Huawei MediaPad M5 lite have access to an 8-MP main camera as well as an 8-MP front camera. The latter takes good-quality portraits, as long as the subject is positioned in the center of the picture due to the fixed focus. Details are displayed nicely with only objects in the background slightly lacking sharpness. The MediaPad M5 lite can transfer data via its USB Type-C port, which, however, only offers 2.0 speeds. The USB port also functions as a charging connection. Headsets or external speakers can be connected to the tablet via the 3.5 mm audio jack. There is also a microSD card slot that allows storage to be expanded by up to 256 GB. The tablet is backed by a 7500 mAh battery. Additionally, the device ships with the company’s M-Pen lite stylus, which supports 2,048 levels of pressure sensitivity. Notably, the stylus will only be accessible in select markets. Furthermore, as mentioned, the company is touting the quad-speaker setup tuned by Harman/Kardon that works with the company's Histen 5.0 sound system to replicate surround sound experience. This tablet’s performance is sufficient for many everyday workloads. Modern games can also be played on this device, although users might have to content themselves with average graphics settings. It is most suitable for casual users who mainly use the tablet for entertainment purpose.

76.37%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
