HP ProBook 445 G6 and 455 G6 with AMD Ryzen are almost $300 cheaper than the Intel equivalents
Two months after the reveal of the Intel Whiskey Lake-powered ProBook 440 G6 and ProBook 450 G6, HP is now ready to ship the AMD Ryzen equivalents ProBook 445 G6 and ProBook 455 G6.
The datasheets below show that both models will have the same three Ryzen APU options: the Ryzen 3 2200U, Ryzen 5 2500U, and Ryzen 7 Pro 2700U with Vega 3, Vega 8, and Vega 10 integrated graphics, respectively. The Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 are typically within 5 to 15 percent of the Intel Kaby Lake-R series in terms of CPU power while offering substantially faster GPU power than the UHD Graphics 620.
The more affordable AMD route will bring a few drawbacks. Options available on the Intel SKUs like the GeForce MX130, touchscreen panel, Intel 9560 WLAN, and Intel XMM LTE are missing on the AMD SKUs. Furthermore, maximum RAM capacity has been halved from 32 GB to 16 GB. The chassis and ports are otherwise identical between the AMD and Intel models.
HP says the ProBook 445 G6 and ProBook 455 G6 will both be available before the end of this month for a starting price of $549. In comparison, the Intel-equivalent ProBook 450 G6 is currently retailing for hundreds of dollars more at $821 through the HP online store.
