Polar has finally made the Grit X2 available in the US. Priced to compete with the Garmin Fenix E and $200 cheaper than the Grit X2 Pro, the Grit X2 combines an AMOLED display with a stainless steel bezel for under $800.

Polar has finally brought its Grit X2 smartwatch to Europe, over four months after the same smartwatch debuted in other markets. Not to be confused with last year's Grit X2 Pro, the Grit X2 undercuts its Pro-sibling by a wide margin when it comes to price. Nonetheless, the pair share many of the same features with each other.

For instance, Polar equips the Grit X2 with an AMOLED display, 32 GB of storage, 37 MB of RAM and a CPU that runs at just 275 MHz. However, this AMOLED display sits within a 44.7 mm housing, which results in it shrinking from 1.39-inches to 1.29-inches. Also, its resolution drops from 416 x 416 pixels to 454 x 454 pixels; pixel density is roughly identical at around 460 PPI.

Moreover, the Grit X2 has a stainless steel bezel like the Grit X2 Pro. Polar swaps a stainless steel front case and a bio-based plastic back case for plastic on both surfaces, though. Also, the Grit X2 drops to 50 metres of water resistance, compared to 100 metres for the Grit X2 Pro. On top of that, Polar installs a 36% battery inside the Grit X2 than the Grit X2 Pro, which totals 310 mAh.

According to Polar, this results in the Grit X2 lasting 30 hours in performance mode, 90 hours in eco training mode and 7 days in smartwatch mode. In other words, expect between 30% and 35% worse battery life than on a Grit X2 Pro. The Grit X2 matches its Pro counterpart elsewhere though, like with ECG and skin temperature monitoring support. A full rundown of the differences between the two smartwatches can be found on Polar's comparison page.

The Grit X2 is only available in one 44.7 mm size for $799.99, a $200 saving on the Grit X2 Pro (curr. $999.99 on Amazon). In that sense, the Grit X2 is priced to compete with the Garmin Fenix E and is $100 shy of the Enduro 3. Unfortunately, Polar restricts the Grit X2 to a single Night Black colour option.
