Xiaomi has just released the Redmi Watch 6 in China with a reported 24-day peak battery life. Replacing the Redmi Watch 5 (curr. $113 on Amazon), the Redmi Watch 6 arrived less than a month after Xiaomi introduced the Watch S4 41 mm and a new Smart Band 10 colour option globally. Now, it seems that the company could be returning to higher-end wearables.
Specifically, Xiaomi has been spotted certifying a new wearable with the TENAA in China. Referred to by its model number M2542T1, the device adopts ultra-wideband (UWB) connectivity in a first for any Xiaomi wearable. As it stands, leaker Digital Chat Station is unsure whether M2542T1 will fall within Xiaomi's Smart Band or Watch series. Regardless, UWB connectivity should provide the wearable with high-precision tracking capabilities and the option of unlocking vehicles like the Xiaomi SU7 series or the Xiaomi YU7.
For the time being, it is unclear what retail name Xiaomi has in mind for the wearable. Nonetheless, we should see the M2542T1 model number present in subsequent certifications and other leaks. Likewise, Xiaomi's retail product listings will including this model number too. Unfortunately, the TENAA's early listing does not indicate when Xiaomi intends to release the M2542T1, nor does the model number itself like the company's smartphones.
