Gears of War: Reloaded becomes first GoW game released on Steam ahead of E-Day

Former Xbox exclusive, Gears of War, has made its way to the biggest PC marketplace in the form of a remaster. Gears of War: Reloaded hit Steam today, August 26, and has become the first game in the franchise to be launched on the platform. It not only allows new players to experience the 2006 game on PC, but for veteran fans to experience the game once more in its modernized form.

The original game was an Xbox 360 first-party exclusive and it kicked off a popular franchise that now has a sixth main instalment on the way, along with a few spin-offs. Gears of War: Reloaded is a remaster of the original and brings optimizations for the latest generation of platforms, including handhelds. It comes with 4K assets and remastered textures, lighting, shadows, and reflections. The game also has ultrawide support, HDR and Dolby Vision, 7.1 surround sound, as well as variable refresh rate. The multiplayer mode supports up to 144 FPS.

Along with visual improvements, Reloaded comes with all post-launch content from the original, refined controls, cross play, and cross progression. It is listed on Steam for $40 and also hits Xbox Series consoles, Xbox Cloud Gaming, PC Game Pass, Game Pass Ultimate, as well as the PlayStation 5. The recommended requirements for PC are as follows:

As mentioned earlier, a sixth mainline instalment in the series is in development and is scheduled for next year. Microsoft hasn’t shared a release date but the game is called Gears of War: E Day. It will also be released on PC via Steam and Xbox consoles.
