In the final week of August, Xbox Game Pass is focusing on quality over quantity. While subscribers received five new titles the week before, only two are arriving this time. Both, however, are high-profile AAA releases, with one launching directly into the service on day one.
Gears of War: Reloaded - August 26 (PC, Cloud and Xbox Series X/S)
Gears of War: Reloaded, developed by The Coalition in partnership with Sumo Digital and Disbelief, is scheduled to launch on August 26. The third-person shooter will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one. It is a remastered version of the original Gears of War, first released in 2006.
Players once again step into the boots of Marcus Fenix, leading Delta Squad against the underground Locust threat. The gameplay revolves around the series’ signature cover system, enabling quick repositioning and tactical movement. Alongside the iconic Lancer rifle with its chainsaw bayonet, players can also wield shotguns, grenades and heavy weapons for varied combat. Reloaded adds updated animations, improved hit and damage feedback, and smoother movement, creating a more immersive and intense combat experience.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard - August 28 (PC, Cloud and Xbox Series X/S)
Dragon Age: The Veilguard, an action RPG released in October 2024, takes players back to the world of Thedas. The story follows the battle against Solas, the “Dread Wolf,” who aims to tear down the Veil and plunge the world into chaos. Players must gather a team of companions and stop him before ancient powers are unleashed and Thedas faces irreversible destruction. The digital edition is currently priced at $30 on Amazon, while the physical version sells for $80.
You create your own hero and lead a team of seven unique companions, each with distinct backstories, personalities and abilities. What sets the game apart is how relationships with these characters influence the course of the story. Combat features a dynamic real-time system with tactical pauses, class-based skills and powerful combos. Your choices shape not only the game’s outcome but also the strength of the bonds within your party.
