Gamescom 2025: This game launches in September as a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass

Deep Rock Galactic is widely regarded as one of the most popular co-op shooters. It’s set in the perilous caves of planet Hoxxes IV, where dwarves mine resources, battle alien swarms and fight their way through procedurally generated missions. On February 14, 2025, fans were introduced to Deep Rock Galactic: Survivors – a new entry set in the same universe but built around a completely different style of gameplay, which launched in Early Access.

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivors reimagines the dwarven adventure as a top-down survivor experience where you explore the caves on your own. Weapons fire automatically, leaving you to stay on the move while fending off waves of enemies, collecting valuable minerals and picking up useful upgrades. Each run follows the roguelite formula – once you die, you start over, though any unlocked gear carries forward. Players can choose from four classes: Gunner, Engineer, Driller or Scout. Unlike its co-op predecessor, Survivors is strictly a single-player game with no multiplayer or co-op features.

IGN reviewed Deep Rock Galactic: Survivors and praised its successful transition to a single-player format, highlighting how well it captures the original's trademark humor, sound design and overall atmosphere. The game was lauded for its engaging gameplay loop and fast sense of progression. However, IGN also noted drawbacks such as short missions – often just a few minutes long – and the limited amount of content available in Early Access. Even so, the game received a strong 8 out of 10. On Steam, it has nearly 38,000 reviews, with 86% rated positive.
