Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection offers remasters of as many as 11 classic Mortal Kombat titles in a move that is expected to create plenty of goodwill for the publisher as it aims to cater to nostalgic players of the franchise.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, developer Digital Eclipse, and publisher Atari revealed the long-speculated lineup for Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection during the Xbox showcase at Gamescom 2025. The collection will bring remasters of 11 classic Mortal Kombat titles from the game’s early years, stretching from 1992 to 2003.

This collection aims to placate fans who have been asking for the original cult-classic experience on modern gaming hardware, with refined graphics, controls, and a slew of new features to revamp these timeless Mortal Kombat games.

The complete roster for Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection includes:

  • Mortal Kombat (1992) with SNES, Arcade, Genesis, Gameboy, and Game Gear editions
  • Mortal Kombat II (1993) featuring Arcade, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, and 32X editions
  • Mortal Kombat 3 (1995) with Arcade, SNES, and Genesis versions
  • Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (1995) with Arcade, SNES, and the rare WaveNet Arcade edition
  • Mortal Kombat Trilogy (1996) from PlayStation 1
  • Mortal Kombat 4 (1997) from Arcade
  • Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero (1997) from PlayStation 1
  • Mortal Kombat Special Forces (2000) from PlayStation 1
  • Mortal Kombat Advance (2001) from Game Boy Advance
  • Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance (2002) from Game Boy Advance
  • Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition (2003) for Game Boy Advance

Unfortunately, a few Mortal Kombat games are missing from the roster, including the Nintendo 64 ports, as well as fan-favourite games like Mortal Kombat Gold and Shaolin Monks, which centered around the series’ roots.

What really surprised the fan base was the inclusion of Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero and Special Forces, as these PlayStation 1 era spin-offs stepped away from the game’s core fighting formula and have been out of print for over two decades, making them some of the rarest games in the franchise.

Along with the core games, Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection also adds a rewind feature to ease gameplay, on-screen move lists for reference, a Training mode to practice your combos, and a Fatality Trainer to master gruesome finishers.

Online Play is included with rollback netcode for a fluid, lag-free experience. Players can also unlock secret characters, fine-tune game settings to their preferences, and tinker around with hidden developer menus for a unique Mortal Kombat experience.

The game also features an interactive documentary that details the series’ history, including exclusive interviews with the original developers, such as John Tobias, Ed Boon, Dan Forden, and John Vogel.

While no official release date has been confirmed, Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection will launch later in 2025, with a special Kollector’s Edition slated to ship on December 12, 2025.
