A genuine piece of video game history is set to be auctioned in Englewood, Colorado. As part of the "Rodz and Bodz Movie Car Museum Auction," a 2013 Chevrolet Caprice PPV will go under the hammer – the very car Rockstar Games used during the development of GTA 6. It served as the direct model for the iconic Vice City police cars featured in the game.
The vehicle wasn’t just digitally scanned for use in GTA 6 – it also played a part in promoting the title. Outfitted with a 6.0-liter V8 engine, light bar, siren, spotlights and a custom license plate reading “SCAREDU,” the car is a near match to the classic cruisers of the Vice City Police Department. Because it isn’t modeled after any real-world police force, it remains street legal.
Auction takes place on August 23
The auction will unfold in two phases. Fans can already place bids online via platforms like bid.kraftauctions.com and Proxibid, with these early offers setting the baseline for the live event on August 23, 2025. So far, the car has climbed to about $4,250 after 25 bids, starting from an opening bid of just $10. The winning bidder will also be responsible for a 10 to 15% commission fee and a $40 title processing charge. Pickup or transport must be arranged within a few days after the auction concludes.
For collectors and fans alike, the Caprice represents more than just a car – it’s a tangible piece of one of the most anticipated games of this generation. Since the debut trailer in December 2023, GTA 6 has achieved staggering milestones: the video has been viewed over 250 million times and has drawn more than a million comments. The second trailer, released in early May 2025, only further fueled the excitement surrounding the game.
Within the community, the auction has stirred more amusement than genuine excitement. On Reddit, many users are cracking jokes about the situation, with some speculating that the winning bid will likely come from a millionaire or influencer eager to add a rare piece of gaming history to their collection.
