Asus has finally taken the wraps off its new controller, the ROG Raikiri II Xbox Wireless Controller. Announced at Gamescom 2025, the controller arrives as a successor to the Raikiri wired Xbox controller released in 2023.
The ROG Raikiri II Xbox Wireless Controller supports tri-mode connectivity like the 8BitDo Ultimate 3-mode Wireless Controller for Xbox Rare 40th Anniversary Edition (available on Amazon for $89.99). What this means is that it supports connection via 2.4GHz RF, Bluetooth, and wired USB-C.
Asus says the controller can be connected to an Xbox (Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One) via the included 2.4GHz dongle or via a USB-C cable. It also connects to PCs (Windows 10 and 11) and the ROG Xbox Ally via 2.4GHz, Bluetooth, and wired USB-C.
The Raikiri II Xbox Wireless Controller now has TMR joysticks which Asus says consumes less power than Hall Effect joysticks and also boasts exceptional anti-drift performance. Another feature of the controller is its 1,000Hz polling rate when used in wired and 2.4GHz wireless modes. Asus says the polling rate is enhanced in 2.4GHz mode thanks to its ROG SpeedNova Wireless technology but doesn't state how it works.
The new controller has dual-mode triggers that can be switched from micro-switch triggers to TMR sensor triggers to best suit the game you are playing. The Raikiri II Xbox Wireless Controller, like the original Raikiri controller has programmable back buttons, but this time, there are four buttons instead of two. There's also a customizable RGB LEDs and an audio jack that works with Xbox and PC.
The ROG Raikiri II Xbox Wireless Controller also has micro-switch buttons for the D-pad, ABXY buttons, and bumpers while the handles have a skin-friendly anti-slip finish for better grip. The controller will provide up to 30 hours of use when in 2.4GHz mode but with vibration, audio, and RGB lighting turned off.
The ROG Raikiri Xbox Wireless Controller comes with a protective case that allows users to still charge the controller when stowed away. It also has a charging stand, a 3m USB-C to USB-A cable, and two detachable joystick caps. Asus has not yet revealed details about its price and availability.
