GTA 6, still at least two years away, alleged to feature the first playable female protagonist in the series
While waiting for the first game trailer to show up, quite a few rumors concerning GTA 6 are reaching the rumor mill. According to sources familiar with the matter, this will be the first installment in the series to feature a playable female protagonist. Even more, the two leading characters will lead a story influenced by the infamous bank robbers Bonnie and Clyde.
While an interesting change of direction in the series, this move might seem strange to those used to the previous games in the franchise, where gangsters kill civilians pointlessly, not to mention that women are simply depicted as sex objects in most cases. The leading female character is said to be Latina, but there are no other details about her to talk about at this time. Her male companion is a character under the veil of secrecy for now, unfortunately.
This title has been under development in some form since 2014, so it might launch after about a decade spent in the making. This information should be taken with a grain of salt for now, because the analysts' expectation of a 2024 fiscal year release (April 2023 - March 2024 for Take-Two) might prove inaccurate.
For now, all we can do is wait for the first trailer and official announcements regarding the launch platforms and dates. As usual, the game will probably launch on consoles first, with PCs to follow at a later time.
