GTA 6: Two small details leave fans impressed by the NPCs

The GTA 6 Extended Look continues to be analyzed by fans down to the smallest detail. Currently, on Reddit, two scenes that appear back-to-back in the trailer are being discussed, both of which could point to more natural NPC behavior.
Security guard realizes when he doesn't stand a chance
One scene shows a robbery at a jewelry store (18:00 mark). Jason and a security guard face each other with their guns drawn while Lucia is still struggling with another guard. After overpowering him and then pointing her gun at the first guard, he raises his hands and surrenders. On Reddit, fans suspect that NPCs in GTA 6 may be able to recognize when they are outnumbered or at a tactical disadvantage. Instead of always following the same behavior regardless of the situation, they could react differently depending on their chances of success.
Bystanders don't immediately panic
In another scene from the Extended Look (17:56 mark), Lucia approaches a small repair shop with a gun in her hand while two bystanders stand outside. Instead of running away screaming, as players might expect from previous GTA games, the bystanders merely give her suspicious looks and quickly remove themselves from the situation. Fans on Reddit believe that NPCs in GTA 6 may perceive and respond to threats in a more nuanced way – and the idea is being well received. Some users praise the reaction for appearing much more natural than before.
What could this mean for GTA 6?
If the scenes really are showcasing a new NPC system, encounters in GTA 6 (available for pre-order on Amazon) could become much less predictable. An armed NPC might fight or surrender depending on the specific situation, while uninvolved bystanders could initially observe, keep their distance, flee or call the police. However, it is still unclear just how much can actually be inferred from these two brief scenes. Rockstar has not officially confirmed such an NPC system so far. It is also possible that some of these behaviors were specifically scripted for the scenes shown.
