Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis adds Before Crisis chapter 2, Turks offensive

Square Enix and developer Applibot have released Before Crisis Chapter 2: Turks Offensive for Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis on PC via Steam, iOS, and Android. The update went live in August and marks the second of three planned chapters adapting Before Crisis, the Japan-exclusive 2004 mobile game that first chronicled the Turks' early history with Shinra, years before the events of the original Final Fantasy VII.

Turks offensive expands the story

The chapter follows Aphromia, the older sister of mainline Turk Elena, and fellow operative Rodd, continuing the pair's introduction from the first chapter, Turks Business. Both work under senior Turks Reno, Rude, and Tseng as Shinra's Investigation Sector escalates its response to the original incarnation of Avalanche. Series antagonists Fuhito and Elfe drive the insurgent campaign against the company, setting up the confrontations that define the group's early conflict with Shinra.

Mainline cast members make an appearance

Turks Offensive also weaves in crossover scenes between Aphromia and familiar Final Fantasy VII characters, including Aerith, Tifa, and Yuffie. Square Enix has said the scenes avoid major spoilers, instead using the appearances to tie the crisis storyline more closely to the events of the main game and give returning players added context for how these characters' paths first crossed with the Turks.

The update continues Square Enix's effort to condense Before Crisis's original episodic structure into a streamlined three-chapter adaptation. It also marks the first official English localization of the Before Crisis story, following the original game's Japan-only release in 2004.

The release comes as Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis approaches the end of its run. Square Enix has confirmed the game will end service on October 6, 2026, with the third and final Before Crisis chapter expected to arrive before then. Turks Offensive is live now and accessible from the main story menu on all supported platforms.
