Currently in review: Lenovo ThinkPad P53 RTX 5000, P53s & P43s
We are currently testing Lenovo's new mobile workstations. We have already taken a look at the very good ThinkPad P1, but now we are reviewing the entry-level models ThinkPad P53s as well as P43s. They are the professional counterparts of the two ThinkPads T590 and T490, which means they are equipped with a professional Quadro GPU from Nvidia. However, it is only the entry-level Quadro P520.
Much more powerful and also much more expensive is the ThinkPad P53, which is available with a much more powerful GPU this year. While the predecessor ThinkPad P52 was limited to the Quadro P3200, the new ThinkPad P53 is also available with the high-end Quadro RTX 5000. The manufacturers do not always disclose whether they use regular or Max-Q GPUs, but the P53 is actually shipped with the regular version of the RTX 5000. Our initial benchmark results are promising, so the ThinkPad P53 could well be one of the most powerful mobile workstations. The matte 1080p screen is also interesting. According to Lenovo, it supports HDR and reaches a brightness of 500 nits. It looks like you do not have to opt for the optional 4K screen to enjoy a nice picture, which we appreciate.
The review of the ThinkPad P53 with the Quadro RTX 5000 is expected to be released in week 41; the two reviews of the ThinkPad P43s and P53s in week 42. Until then, we recommend you take a look at our previous reviews of Lenovo's mobile workstations or the regular ThinkPad counterparts, respectively:
