Casio officially launches two new Edifice chronographs with Tough Solar, sapphire crystal

The Edifice EFS-S660 is officially on Casio Japan's site now. This closes the loop on renders that leaked a while back — the honeycomb-textured solar dial, the inner-ring tachymeter, and the compact 38.3 mm width all check out exactly as those images suggested. Two references are listed for August 2026, both priced at ¥33,000 (about $206): the steel-bracelet EFS-S660D-1AJF and the resin-strapped EFS-S660PB-1AJF.

Both these watches have different personalities. EFS-S660D-1AJF goes with a stainless steel case and bracelet, blue chronograph hands, and a 129-gram build. EFS-S660PB-1AJF gets a rubber strap with gray IP-coated case and black IP bezel, swaps in red chronograph hands, and drops to a much lighter 71 grams. Plus, it's the one carrying new context the leaks didn't have: official marketing art ties it directly to the Toyota Racing partnership. It is branded alongside Toyota's GR race cars rather than sold as a standalone chronograph.

Underneath the design, both share a 45.3 x 38.3 x 11.6 mm case, sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective coating, 10-bar water resistance, and a 1/20-second stopwatch measuring up to 60 minutes with split timing. Chronograph hands are fixed at the 12 o'clock position for faster reading at a glance, a tachymeter scale runs along the outer edge of the dial rather than the bezel, and the textured dial surface is designed to let light through to the solar cell without looking like an obvious solar watch. Casio's solar charging system is rated for roughly five months of running time on a full charge without further light exposure, with average monthly accuracy holding around ±20 seconds. This is pretty solid, if unremarkable, for a solar quartz movement at this price.
