Camera weakness of the Razr 2026: What our test really shows

You always have to make compromises with foldables: The complicated folding technology and the additional display require cost-cutting measures in other areas to keep the device reasonably affordable. Even with a clamshell foldable like the Motorola Razr 70 (about US$ 800 at amazon.com) this is also noticeable, for example in the camera system:

The wide-angle camera has admittedly been upgraded to 50 megapixels and a slightly higher aperture. Despite the higher resolution, however, the test shows blurring in the detail area. The quality is sufficient for quick snapshots, but not for demanding photography.

Camera specifications

The main camera also has a resolution of 50 megapixels, while the inner camera has a resolution of 32 megapixels.

The latter will probably mainly be used for video telephony: The practical thing about the Razr 70 is that you can easily use the main camera as a selfie cam thanks to the secondary display.

Quality of detail in the test

In our test report, we take a very close look at the images from the main camera.

They cannot keep up with conventional high-end smartphones, for example in terms of sharpness in detail or dynamic range. This is particularly noticeable when zooming in or printing larger formats.

Everyday scenario for photography

A user who takes vacation photos for social media may be satisfied with the Razr 70.

The camera is not suitable for prints in A4 format or professional applications. Portrait shots in good light work reliably.

A major advantage of the Razr 70 is its flexibility, which is not directly due to the camera system, but to the design of the smartphone: This allows you to set up the phone without using a tripod. You can also hold it in landscape format like a camcorder and thus have a secure grip.

Conclusion on the camera

The 50-megapixel camera offers a solid basic level, but does not achieve the level of detail of higher-priced flagships. It is sufficient for occasional photographers, but more demanding users should test the camera system before buying.
