The Motorola Razr Plus 2026 promises high stability and durability thanks to its titanium-reinforced hinge. We’ll tell you just how rugged this foldable really is in everyday use and whether signs of wear are already apparent after a few weeks.

Titanium is a lightweight metal used in aircraft and spacecraft construction, but also in the hinge of the Motorola Razr Plus 2026 (also called Razr 70 Plus): The flip phone, which is currently available for about US$ 1,100 on amazon.com, is designed to allow for frequent opening and to save weight.

Hinge with special properties

Motorola states that the hinge is “titanium-reinforced.” This makes sense, as titanium alloys are typically used to combine the best properties of titanium with those of other metals.

At 189 grams, the phone is actually about as heavy as clamshell foldables from other manufacturers, but it also offers a slightly larger inner screen.

As for durability, we can’t say much yet after two weeks of testing: The phone opened just as easily as it did at the beginning and held the Razr Plus 2026 steady in a wide variety of positions—whether opened like a laptop or standing upright on a table like a tent. Intermediate positions were also possible without any issues.

After our two-week test, no crease was visible on the display and was only minimally noticeable to the touch.

Is the Razr Plus a sturdy flip phone?

To further protect the phone from drops or the elements, Motorola uses Gorilla Glass Victus on the exterior, which is said to easily survive a drop from two meters onto a hard surface under laboratory conditions and is particularly scratch-resistant.

It also has an IP48 rating, which means you can take the Razr+ 2026 with you on dives in relatively shallow water.

However, it isn’t completely protected against dust, and dust particles—especially if they’re too small—can damage the internal protective film or the hinge. Even though Motorola says a special brush filter is built into the hinge to keep dust out: as a precaution, you should only use the phone in reasonably clean environments.
