The ideal balance of price and performance? This clamshell foldable breaks new ground

The Razr Ultra 2026, Motorola’s top-of-the-line clamshell foldable this year, costs just under US$ 1,500. That’s a lot of money, and given general inflation and feature cuts due to the memory crisis, many buyers are looking for a more affordable option.

A brand-new Razr model as the solution

That’s why Motorola has added an “intermediate model” to its series for the first time this year: the Motorola Razr+ 2026, which is available for around US$ 1,100 euros on amazon.com. 

It’s designed to bridge the gap between the Razr 2026 and the Razr Ultra 2026, offering a mid-range alternative for anyone who finds the Razr lacking but the Ultra model too expensive.

The external display impresses with its brightness and durability

As a result, the Razr Plus has become a blend of its two sibling models, adopting, for example, the large 4-inch external display from the Razr Ultra 2026. 

This display offers a resolution of 1,272 x 1,080 pixels and is nearly square. With a refresh rate of up to 165 frames per second, it’s well-suited for fast-paced content, though this frame rate is likely to be used only rarely in practice. 

Of course, the display is also HDR-capable, and in our test, it proved bright enough at 2,684 cd/m² to adequately display HDR content. The display is protected from damage by Gorilla Glass Victus—the slightly older generation of protective glass, which is nonetheless very durable.

The main cameras integrated into the display are somewhat unsightly, as they take up a lot of space—but most foldables share this same issue.

The smallest battery in the series

It’s worth noting that Motorola has equipped the Razr Plus 2026 (Razr 70 Plus) with the smallest battery in the series. It has a capacity of just 4,500 mAh and, in our web browsing test with a fixed screen brightness, managed about 14 hours of runtime. Samsung, for example, offers significantly longer battery life.

You can charge via cable at a maximum of 45 watts; a full charge takes just over an hour. Wireless charging is also possible, at a maximum of 15 watts.
