Audio-Technica has unveiled their flagship ATH-TWX9MK2 earbuds with a variety of improved and new features for the high-resolution music enthusiast.
The ATH-TWX9MK2 utilizes 5.8 mm Pure Motion Drivers with a frequency response of 10 Hz to 40 kHz and a sensitivity of 105dB/mW. The high-performance drivers are made of a rigid, beryllium-coated center dome coupled with an elastic polyurethane outer dome driven by an ultra-small voice coil and damped by a Sefar acoustic mesh, according to A-T. High-resolution music playback is supported through aptX Adaptive Audio (up to 96 kHz 24-bit) and Hi-Res Audio Wireless compatibility.
Each earbud is equipped with feed-forward and feed-backward MEMS microphones for hybrid active noise cancellation, improving upon the ANC performance of the prior generation notes A-T. The microphones have a frequency response of 20 Hz to 10 kHz with a sensitivity of −38dB (1V/Pa at 1 kHz). They operate as a beamforming microphone system with Qualcomm cVc Generation 8.0 (Clear Voice Capture) technology to pick up the wearer's voice more clearly in noisy environments.
The earbuds can automatically personalize the ANC to the wearer's ears by playing a reference tone that is picked up by the microphones to determine the best settings. A long-touch of the earbuds can also optimize the ANC for the current environment should the five presets be insufficient. The hear-through function allows users to hear nearby people speaking without removing the earbuds. Four ear tip sizes in three height variations are included to help ensure the proper fit.
When not listening to music or calls, the ATH-TWX9MK2 can play soothing nature and meditation sounds to help users relax after a day of work or increase concentration while studying.
The earbuds have a stated runtime of up to six hours with ANC on, and up to 18.5 hours with the case. Each one weighs 5.5 g (0.19 oz.), and the case weighs 55 g (1.94 oz.). Deep-UV LEDs inside the case irradiate the earbuds with sanitizing light to kill bacteria and viruses. The case can be recharged using a USB-C power supply or wireless charger.
The Audio-Technica ATH-TWX9MK2 earbuds in black or white have an MSRP of 38,500 yen (~$265). They are scheduled for release on July 11, 2025 in Japan and will be coming soon to the Audio-Technica store on Amazon US.
