Audio-Technica has launched the ATH-M50xSTS-USB MIKU, a limited-edition streaming headset made in collaboration with virtual anime pop star Hatsune Miku.
The MIKU model is based on the existing ATH-M50xSTS-USB (sold here on Amazon) with decorative elements added. The closed-back headset uses 45 mm drivers with a frequency range of 15 to 28,000 Hz and a sensitivity of 99 dB/mW. It has a maximum power input rating of 1,600 mW. The
Miku-inspired decorative elements are incorporated throughout the headset, including the hair accessory-inspired headband design, Miku green metal accents, and logoed ear cups. Two sets of ear pads are included, a M50x set for sound isolation and a mesh/leatherette set for breathability.
The headset connects to computers with a USB-A port, and a USB-A to USB-C adapter is included. The wired USB headset is designed for live streaming, with a boom microphone that captures speech close to the mouth with less background noise. The mic has a frequency response of 50 to 20,000 Hz, and flipping it up mutes it. Sampling rates up to 24-bit, 96 kHz are supported.
Readers interested in buying the ATH-M50xSTS-USB MIKU can buy it for an MSRP of $279 from A-T's website. The regular model is sold in the A-T store on Amazon, and the Miku-edition may show up there before stocks run out. A Miku-themed alternative is the Sony Hatsune Miku Linkbuds Fit earbuds.
