Audio-Technica unveils flagship ATH-AWX7000 wooden headphones made with Kiso cypress and finished with Echizen lacquer

Audio-Technica has unveiled its flagship ATH-AWX7000 wooden headphones made with Kiso cypress and finished with Echizen lacquer to create a detailed, warm sound tuned for superior reproduction of deep bass, an expansive soundstage, and a broad dynamic range.

The over-ear headphones use 58 mm drivers with Hybrid Matrix diaphragms (HMDs) developed especially for this model along with HXDT driver molding technology created during the development of the company's flagship ATH-ADX7000 open-back headphones. The precision-molded diaphragms have a very broad frequency response range of 5 Hz to 50 kHz, with a 97 dB/mW sensitivity and an impedance of 48 ohms.

Japanese deerskin lines the headband and earpads for comfort during long listening sessions. When not in use, the A-T headphones can be stored inside the included compact carrying case.

The flagship headphones connect to analog and digital audio players using a 3.0 m (9.8 ft.) unbalanced 6.35 mm (1/4-inch) cable or a 2.5 m (8.2 ft.) balanced Neutrik 4-pin XLRM cable, both terminating at the headphones with A2DC connectors. The headphones weigh 353 g (12 oz).

The Audio-Technica ATH-AWX7000 accented with lacquered woods is available from the company at an MSRP of $3,799.
