Audio-Technica unveils budget headset for streamers, gamers and content creators

Audio-Technica has expanded its StreamSet range with a new wired headset aimed at streamers, gamers and content creators who don't want to spend heavily on a first serious headset. The model builds on the company’s popular ATH-M20x headphone, combining their 40mm dynamic drivers with a cardioid condenser microphone.

The headset retains several features associated with Audio-Technica’s more expensive ATH-M20x model. The 40mm drivers offer a wide bandwidth and flat frequency response, intended to keep footsteps, reloads and chat distinct rather than blurred together. The bundled AT20 cardioid condenser microphone is designed to isolate the user's voice from keyboard noise, fans or any other background noise.

The microphone sits on a flexible boom arm that can be flipped upward to mute it, while breathable mesh earpads and a 230g weight are intended to make extended use more comfortable. Connectivity is established via a detachable 3.5mm TRRS cable, with USB-A and USB-C adapters included for use with PCs, mobile devices and consoles. Although practical, the wired design means it lacks the convenience of wireless alternatives.
