AirFly View wireless headphones dongle has a display for easy setup and management

Twelve South, the company best-known for its AirFly series of dongles that lets you connect a pair of wireless headphones to a device with an audio jack, has announced a new AirFly model. The current AirFly lineup include the AirFly SE, the AirFly Deluxe, and the AirFly Pro 2. They have now been joined by a new model called the AirFly View, and unlike its siblings, this one has a display.

The AirFly View has a design that closely resembles that of the AirFly Pro 2, but it ditches the large “+” and “−” buttons on the front for a small display. Twelve South says the display makes it easier to setup the dongle, connect and manage headphones, and see important details such as the battery life of the dongle. The dongle has support for 24 languages, so users are not stuck with English.

The new AirFly dongle has Bluetooth 5.3 and allows users to connect two pairs of headphones to the same audio source. There is also support for Bluetooth Auracast, which lets compatible devices such as speakers, headphones, and hearing aids connect to an Auracast broadcast.

Like the AirFly Pro 2 (available on Amazon for $59.99), the AirFly View has Transmitter (TX) and Receiver (RX) modes — the former sends audio from the device it is plugged into, such as an airplane screen or a treadmill, to your headphones. For Receiver mode, audio is sent from your phone or tablet to the device the dongle is connected to, such as your car stereo or a device with an aux-in port.

The AirFly View has a battery life of up to 16 hours, which is a downgrade from the Pro 2's 25+ hours of battery life. It charges via USB-C and comes with a USB-C charging cable. It also comes with an international adapter and a travel case.

Available in just 2 colors — Black and Blue — unlike the Pro 2 which is available in 10 colors, the AirFly View is available to buy now for $79.99 on the manufacturer's website and on Amazon.
