Apple is expected to release a third-generation iPhone SE soon with its A15 Bionic chipset. Thought to be arriving this spring, 3D printed dummies suggest that the iPhone SE 3 will look familiar to anyone that owns a current iPhone SE or an iPhone as old as the iPhone 6.

Last week, Ten Tech Review and @xleaks7 revealed alleged CAD renders of a new iPhone SE, tipped to be the third-generation model. Now, the latter has teamed up with Pigtou to release photos and a video of 3D printed dummies. Supposedly, this iPhone SE will draw inspiration from the iPhone XR, which is now over three years old.

There are some who disagree with the idea that Apple will redesign the iPhone SE this year, though. For example, Mark Gurman said earlier this month that Apple would return to the iPhone 8 design again for what it will call the iPhone SE 5G. Additionally, @dylandkt believes that a genuine third-generation iPhone SE will not arrive until 2024, rather than this year.

According to Pigtou and @xleaks7, the next iPhone SE measures 138 x 67.3 x 7.3 mm, or 8.2 mm if you include the device's camera housing. Confusingly, these are the current iPhone SE's dimensions and are a lot smaller than the iPhone XR. Also, the back panel matches the iPhone SE (2020), not the iPhone XR. Based on these 3D-printed dummies, it would seem more likely that the next iPhone SE also has the 4.7-inch display that Apple introduced with the iPhone 6.

Regardless of design, the next iPhone SE should feature the A15 Bionic, which has a 6-core CPU and a 5G modem. We imagine that Apple will opt for the A15 Bionic with a 4-core GPU too, not the 5-core part found in the iPad mini 6, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The A15 Bionic also contains new video encoders and decoders, among other changes.

Apple is expected to reveal the next iPhone SE sometime during spring 2022. Incidentally, Apple has just registered three new iPhone models with the EEC in Russia, which we have covered separately.
