Apple rumoured to be testing a new budget iPad, iPhone SE 5G and iPad Air 5 in India ahead of spring launches
Last month, Consomac discovered that Apple registered multiple new model numbers with Russia's Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). Typically, Apple makes these sweeping registrations when it is on the verge of releasing new products, even if not all model numbers come to market. For context, Apple is expected to unveil multiple products this spring, including a third-generation iPhone SE and a fifth-generation iPad Air.
According to 91mobiles, Apple has brought seven unreleased model numbers to India for testing. Citing unnamed industry sources, the website claims that Apple is testing these model numbers now in time to announce them at its spring event. Supposedly, Apple has imported A2595, A2783, A2784, which the company also registered with the EEC. 91mobiles adds that these model numbers all relate to the next iPhone SE, tipped to arrive in India for INR 23,000 (~US$307). Based on past rumours, Apple will market the next iPhone SE as the iPhone SE 5G.
Similarly, the website asserts that A2588 and A2589 are the model numbers for the iPad Air 5, which is believed to rely on the A15 Bionic. Allegedly, the iPad Air 5 will cost between INR 37,500 (~US$500) and INR 52,300 (~US$697), although it has not provided a source for these claims. Similarly, 91mobiles states that Apple is testing a new cheaper iPad, A2757 and A2761, priced at approximately INR 22,500 (~US$300). It is worth noting that all these prices exclude import taxes and duties, so Apple may sell the trio for significantly more in India.
