The Apple iPhone 17 series is expected to be officially unveiled on Tuesday, September 9. Compared to the iPhone 16 series, one model will be completely replaced. The iPhone 16 Plus apparently won’t receive a direct successor. Instead, Apple is expected to introduce the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air.
With a height of about 0.22 inches, this model could be almost 30 percent thinner than the iPhone 16 Plus. But with a screen size of 6.6 inches, the device is also slightly more compact than the 6.7-inch iPhone 16 Plus. The screen sizes of the other models seemingly remain unchanged, so the iPhone 17 series should offer the following four options:
- iPhone 17: 6.1 inches
- iPhone 17 Air: 6.6 inches
- iPhone 17 Pro: 6.3 inches
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: 6.9 inches
A picture shared by MajinBuOfficial supposedly shows screen protectors for all four iPhone 17 variants side by side, comparing the dimensions of Apple’s upcoming smartphones. For instance, the image illustrates that the iPhone 17 Air sits almost exactly between the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max in terms of size, while the base model is only slightly smaller than the iPhone 17 Pro. However, the base model is likely to have slightly larger bezels around the display.
Moreover, the leaker claims that the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will feature a brand-new antenna design. Instead of integrating the antennas for the 5G modem and WiFi 7 chip into the metal frame, they are placed around the significantly larger camera module. This might improve reception and signal strength, especially because users are less likely to cover the antennas with their hands.
