Anbernic releases surprise retro handheld globally for under $40
Anbernic has returned with a surprise release. To recap, hardly any time has passed since the company started selling the RG 551. Nonetheless, Anbernic has pressed ahead with the RG 35.
Typically, Anbernic teases upcoming devices for weeks, if not months, before releasing them. This time, the company has opened pre-orders globally without sharing any pre-release teasers. While the RG 551 resembles the Nintendo Switch Lite (curr. $229 on Amazon), the RG 35 leans heavily on the Game Boy aesthetic, albeit with dual joysticks.
Additionally, the RG 35 is available in Transparent Black and Transparent Pink options. All variants ship with the same Rockchip RK3326 chipset and 1 GB of RAM, though. Featuring a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU, the Rockchip RK3326 is the same chipset found in the Lenovo G02 and many other budget retro handhelds.
To that end, Anbernic is selling the RG 35 for $37.99 with a 32 GB microSD card. The RG 35 contains a 3,200 mAh battery too, as well as a 3.5-inch IPS display that resolves at 640 x 480 pixels in a 4:3 aspect ratio. Please see Anbernic's website for more details.
