Compact Acer gaming handheld debuts with capable Intel Arc G3 series

Acer has introduced a new gaming handheld alongside the concept Project DualPlay Mini at IFA 2026, the Predator Atlas 7. It's essentially the smaller version of the Atlas 8, which was unveiled in May 2026.

The key difference lies in the display size. While the latter features an 8-inch screen, the newly announced Atlas 7 has a more compact 7-inch panel. It's still an IPS, though, and it would have stood as a much better gaming handheld if only Acer had equipped it with OLED instead.

Nonetheless, Acer notes that the 7-inch FHD display of the Atlas 7 has a 500 nits brightness rating, 120Hz refresh rate, and 100% sRGB color coverage. So, the only display spec difference is that the Atlas 8 has a slightly more pixel-dense 1200p panel instead of a 1080p one.

This small-sized display has also made the Atlas 7 a bit more compact than its 8-inch sibling, and it's slightly lighter as well. Specifically, the configuration with the 60Wh battery, which is expected to be the base config, weighs "under 700 grams" (about 1.54lbs). The base Atlas 8, on the other hand, is marketed to weigh "under 770 grams" (around 1.69lbs). 

As for the other specs, they are more or less the same as the 8-inch gaming handheld. That includes the Predator Atlas 7 being available with Intel Arc G3 Extreme and non-Extreme G3. Among the two, the former has the capable B390 iGPU, which can smoothly handle a handful of AAA games at the FHD resolution.

While it's slightly more compact, Acer has kept support for 2280 M.2 SSD, and there's a microSD slot for further storage expansion. Users can also take advantage of the two Thunderbolt 4 ports to attach performance-focused drives to this gaming handheld (Cable Matters 40Gbps SSD enclosure curr. $47.49 on Amazon).

Other highlights include up to an 80Wh battery, WiFi 7, dual-speaker setup with DTS Virtual:X, and up to 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM. Acer didn't share the pricing and availability of the Atlas 7 yet, but it's worth noting that the slightly larger Atlas 8 launched in the UK with a starting price of £999.99 (about $1,348). Given that the specs are identical, it's unlikely that the smaller gaming handheld will launch with a sub-$1000 starting price.
