Anbernic has not officially unveiled the RG Cube yet. Nonetheless, full specifications for the Anbernic RG Cube have now been detailed, which point towards the gaming handheld being as powerful as the Anbernic RG556 despite being a Powkiddy RGB30 rival.

Roughly a week has passed since various sources posted pictures of the RG Cube, Anbernic's next gaming handheld after the RG35XX SP. For reference, the RG Cube appears more of an alternative to the likes of the Powkiddy RGB30 (curr. $95.99 on Amazon) than the Game Boy Advance SP-inspired RG35XX SP. While Anbernic has not confirmed an RG Cube release date yet, an almost complete set of technical specifications have now been published online.

As expected, the RG Cube has a display with a 1:1 aspect ratio. Mirroring the Powkiddy RGB30, the RG Cube features a 4-inch IPS panel that outputs at 720 x 720 pixels. However, the RG Cube diverges from its Powkiddy rival by utilising a more powerful chipset and RAM combination. Specifically, the RG Cube is said to house the Unisoc Tiger T820, a 6 nm chipset that combines ARM Cortex-A55 and Cortex-A76 CPU cores with a Mali-G57 MP4 GPU.

Additionally, the RG Cube will offer 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128 GB of UFS flash storage with microSD card expansion. In other words, it seems that the RG Cube is also a smaller alternative to the RG556 that Anbernic launched in February 2024. With that being said, the former has a moderately smaller battery than the latter, 5,200 mAh versus 5,500 mAh, likely because of its inferior display. Unfortunately, pricing remains unknown for now. Presumably, the RG Cube will retail for slightly less than the RG556 though, which started at $174.99.
