Pre-orders for AYN Technologies' latest gaming handheld have now opened through its E-commerce platform. To recap, the company's new model is the Odin2 Mini, a smaller alternative to the existing Odin2 (curr. $449.99 on Amazon). Specifically, the Odin2 Mini measures 196 x 86 x 20 mm, compared to 225 x 98 x 17 mm for the Odin2.
Thus, the Odin2 Mini should be noticeably smaller than the Odin2, a visualisation of which we have attempted to show below. Nonetheless, the inclusion of a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and up to 12 GB of RAM in its 'Pro' configuration should make the Odin2 Mini just as powerful as its larger counterpart. The Odin2 Mini features a 37.5% smaller battery than the Odin2, though. Thus, the former will achieve worse runtimes from its 5,000 mAh battery than the latter can with its 8,000 mAh equivalent.
The Odin2 Mini is more than just a smaller Odin2, though. Additionally, it is one of the first gaming handhelds to feature a Mini LED display. As the images below show, AYN Technologies claims that the Odin2 Mini delivers up to 1,100 nits peak brightness from 384 local dimming zones with 155% sRGB colour space coverage. While pre-orders have opened today, AYN Technologies will not begin shipping the Odin2 Mini until 'late June' at the earliest. Currently, the Odin2 Mini starts at $339, although $10 can be taken off when applying coupon code Odin2Mini10, which is valid until June 21. Please note that all pre-orders will ship with complimentary screen protector and case accessories.
