Antec Core HS debuts as the brand's first gaming handheld, but it's a rebadged Ayaneo Slide
Antec is preparing to launch its very first gaming handheld, the Core HS. It's the result of the partnership with Ayaneo, and the unit is basically the Ayaneo Slide with a different name. Chinese media LTN says that it will be coming to the North American and European markets soon with a retail price between $600 and $900. It's expected to be available from June.
As it's a rebadged Ayaneo Slide, the core specs are the same. That means the Core HS packs the AMD Ryzen 7 7840U, which has been a popular processor for handheld gaming PCs. Antec hasn't revealed the configurations yet, but Ayaneo lists the base variant with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage.
The top-end variant, on the other hand, comes with 32 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage. It's unclear whether Antec will be offering the same exact configurations as the Ayaneo Slide for the Core HS. Antec's gaming handheld could also come with some of the accessories that Ayaneo offers for its Slide.
Now, while the Core HS is a rebadged Ayaneo Slide, Antec has a better global distribution and retail presence. This would make the handheld gaming PC more accessible. Of course, it's not clear how well Antec will compete with the bigger players, such as the ROG Ally, Steam Deck, and Lenovo Legion GO (available on Amazon).
However, the Slide brings one unique thing to the table: a sliding screen that can go up with a 30-degree tilt. It also features a built-in QWERTY keyboard, which is another thing that the offerings from Asus, Valve, and Lenovo don't have. These features will also be available on the Core HS.
