ROG Ally X: Leaker details battery life and RAM upgrades for next ASUS gaming handheld

ASUS is due to fully unveil the ROG Ally X on June 2 as part of its Computex 2024 showcase. So far, the company has provided a few vague details about the ROG Ally follow-up, full coverage of which we have provided separately. For example, ASUS confirmed to The Verge that the ROG Ally X would feature 'way more' than a 30% or 40% battery capacity improvement.

A few days later, @MysteryLupin revealed some specifications that ASUS had not shared publicly. Likewise, the leaker claimed that the ROG Ally X would retail for $799. By contrast, ASUS has only outlined publicly that the device would 'start at a higher price' than the original ROG Ally (curr. $668.99 on Amazon).

Now, the same leaker has expanded on their previous leak with more previously unknown information about the ROG Ally X. According to @MysteryLupin, ASUS will advertise the ROG Ally X as delivering up to 8 hours of battery life. Unfortunately, the leaker has not elaborated on this assertion. Thus, it is unclear in what scenario this official battery life estimate should apply.

For context, ASUS claims that the ROG Ally should last up to 1.5 hours during 'heavy gaming' or 6.8 hours when streaming content from the likes of Netflix and YouTube. Moreover,  @MysteryLupin reports that ASUS will sell the ROG Ally X with 24 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, which will be joined by 1 TB of storage. In other words, the ROG Ally X will not only offer 8 GB more RAM than all current ROG Ally SKUs, but also 512 GB more storage.
