Anbernic RG Cube retro gaming handheld pictured before official release
Less than a week has passed since the first details of the Anbernic RG Cube surfaced online. Since then, Anbernic has fleshed out specifications for the RG35XX SP, another compact retro gaming handheld that it is working towards releasing soon. Now, several of its employees have shared more photos of the RG Cube online, many of which we have embedded below.
As expected, Anbernic has equipped the RG Cube with a pair of joysticks, unlike the smaller RG28XX. For reference, the RG Cube shares its button layout with the A1 Unicorn, which ZPG has not released yet either, rather than the Powkiddy RGB30. As such, the RG Cube has a recessed d-pad, while its right-hand joystick is sandwiched between YXAB buttons and START/SELECT buttons. Supposedly, Anbernic has equipped the RG Cube with the Unisoc T820, which it already offers in the RG556.
For context, the Unisoc T820 is a 6 nm chipset that has a Mali-G57 MP4 GPU. Also, Unisoc integrates one ARM Cortex-A76 CPU core clocked at 2.7 GHz, three other Cortex-A76 cores restricted to 2.3 GHz and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores running at up to 2.1 GHz. Consequently, the RG Cube should be more powerful than the likes of the RG35XX Plus (curr. $85.99 on Amazon). However, Anbernic has not officially revealed the RG Cube yet, so we would recommend reserving judgment until it does so.
