AYANEO SLIDE launches from US$699 as powerful GPD Win 4 rival with shipments beginning next month
AYANEO has finally started selling the SLIDE, one of the company's many new gaming handhelds. To recap, AYANEO first showcased the SLIDE in May 2022 alongside the AYANEO 2 with an AMD Ryzen 7 6800U APU. Since then, the SLIDE has undergone changes, including a switch to the Ryzen 7 7840U, an APU that has become the default for modern gaming handhelds.
Specifically, the Ryzen 7 7840U has eight Zen 4-based CPU cores that can boost to 5.1 GHz during demanding tasks. Also, these CPU cores share a 28 W TDP with the Radeon 780M, an RDNA 3-derived iGPU that has 12 Compute Units, a 2.7 GHz peak clock speed and is powerful enough to play triple-A titles at 1080p with low or medium graphics settings, depending on the game.
Additionally, the AYANEO SLIDE has a 6-inch IPS display that peaks at 400 nits with a 1080p native resolution and a 368 PPI pixel density. While the device's display slides up to reveal a built-in keyboard like the GPD Win 4, AYANEO claims that the SLIDE's display can be adjusted between 10° and 30° to improve viewing angles. Please see the specification sheet below for full device details.
AYANEO has introduced four memory configurations at launch, all with LPDDR5X RAM, PCIe 4.0 storage and a choice between Bright Black and Sunrise White colour options. Currently, the AYANEO SLIDE starts at US$699 with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, although this price will eventually increase to US$799 on Indiegogo and then to US$899 when AYANEO offers the SKU on its website. As the image immediately below shows, the SLIDE is also available with up to 64 GB of RAM and a 4 TB SSD for a US$1,299 Early Bird price. For now, the company hopes to begin shipping Indiegogo orders from next month.
