Nvidia's board partners are reportedly placing orders for the RTX 4070 Ti Super and RTX 4080 Super GPUs releasing in early 2024. In order to ensure sufficient supplies for all AIB partners, Nvidia is apparently enforcing a temporary inventory cutoff for the non-Super cards.

Nvidia has not yet confirmed the return of the Super variants for the current RTX 4000 series, although these will most likely be officially introduced in the announced CES address scheduled for early January next year. A new report from Board Channels - a Chinese site that keeps track of inventory and orders from several Nvidia, AMD and Intel board partners in the SEA zone - now adds more fuel to the rumored release of the Super GPUs from Team Green, which will instead cut back on production for non-Super models.

Board Channels informs that, in order to ensure sufficient initial supplies for the upcoming RTX 4070 Ti Super and RTX 4080 Super cards, Nvidia is stopping production or at least enforcing an inventory cutoff for the RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080 cards. Board partners are already placing orders for the Super variants, but this does not necessarily mean that the non-Super cards are completely discontinued.

As noted by Videocardz, the report seems to equate discontinuation to production stop, yet the terms are not actually synonyms when it comes to GPU supplies. Since the demand for such cards is still relatively high with the AI craze in full effect, Nvidia is probably only temporarily stopping production for the aforementioned non-Super cards in order to fill all the Super orders from board partners. Non-Super cards should still be produced in some capacity at least until the next gen RTX 5000 cards get introduced in late 2024.
