Deal | Nvidia's RTX 4070 Ti drops to $699 and matches the latest AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT discounts
Nvidia’s new RTX 4070 Ti Super cards have been enjoying steady demand since their recent launch, and retailers are now trying to unload the original RTX 4070 Ti stocks by applying enticing discounts. Newegg, for instance, is among the first to discount an MSI Ventus 2X RTX 4070 Ti with a special limited promotion. While other retailers like Amazon still offer this model for $749.99, Newegg is discounting it to $699.99 via a VGAEXCMSET599 promo code.
In the past few days, AMD has also lowered prices for the Radeon RX 7900 XT cards down to $699, so the discounts on the older RTX 4070 Ti comes as a welcome response. However, despite the matching prices, the performance level is not exactly the same between the two models. Raw raster performance is clearly on the AMD side in this case, but Nvidia bridges the gap with better AI upscaling support.
Nvidia also loses the VRAM battle, only offering 12 GB versus 20 GB, but the RTX 4070 Ti card is certainly more power efficient, allowing the MSI card to run with only a two-fan cooling system. When it comes to generative AI applications and overall content creation, Nvidia still holds the crown, yet AMD is not far behind, with solid AI workload optimizations as of late.
