Nvidia has just presented a particularly economical professional graphics card, the RTX 2000 Ada, that runs on a modern "Ada Lovelace" GPU with a power loss of just 70 watts, making power cables superfluous. Thanks to 16 GB VRAM, the GPU is also suitable for AI applications.

The Nvidia RTX 2000 Ada is launching as a compact, two-slot-wide workstation graphics card that offers the modern features of the "Ada Lovelace" generation at a significantly lower price, at least compared to the RTX 4000 Ada, the cheapest model in the series to date, which at $1250 costs twice as much as the new model.

The RTX 2000 Ada makes do with an AD107 GPU with 2816 CUDA computing units, which means that the graphics card has around 8.3% fewer shaders than the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU. At 70 watts, the TGP is also lower than that of the fastest RTX 4060 Laptop GPU. For the higher price, buyers receive 16 GB of GDDR6 memory with a bandwidth of 224 GB/s and ECC, which should make the graphics card ideal for creative professionals and AI applications.

Nvidia emphasizes that the RTX 2000 Ada supports all features of the "Ada Lovelace" architecture, including a hardware-accelerated AV1 encoder, real-time ray tracing and the fourth-generation tensor computing units, which are said to accelerate AI applications by up to 80% compared to the previous generation. Four Mini-DisplayPort 1.4 connections allow four 4K monitors to be operated at 120 Hz or two 8K monitors at 60 Hz. PC connections are established via PCIe 4.0 x8.

Price and availability

The Nvidia RTX 2000 Ada is expected to be launched in April for a recommended retail price of $625. Further details on the graphics card can be found on the official product page.
