MSI GeForce RTX 4060 AERO ITX: This graphics card is perfect for compact gaming systems
Mini PCs are likely to have gained quite a bit of popularity in recent years. This is not necessarily surprising: modern processors and advanced APUs offer high performance - even at low prices - and with a relatively low TDP. The heat development is relevant here due to the compact dimensions, which make it impossible to use conventional tower coolers, for example. Although the graphics performance of APUs is also sufficient for playing less demanding titles, a dedicated GPU is still necessary for enjoying video games in higher resolutions or better quality settings. One option here is to use an external graphics card or to install a particularly compact GPU.
MSI has developed one of these with the GeForce RTX 4060 AERO ITX 8G. The graphics card is connected via eight PCIe 4 lanes. The maximum clock frequency is specified at 2,475 MHz, and the boost clock frequency is at 2,460 MHz. There are 3,072 CUDA cores available, and the 8 gigabyte GDDR6 memory is connected via a 128-bit interface. The power consumption is specified by the manufacturer at up to 115 watts. An 8-pin connector is used to supply electrical power; a power supply unit with at least 550 watts is recommended.
The 455-gram graphics card measures 167 x 111 x 43 millimetres and should therefore also be usable in compact systems. MSI uses just one fan and several heat pipes. HDMI 2.1a is available once for image output, plus three DisplayPort 1.4a connections. There is currently no information available for the domestic market - neither in terms of release date nor price. An alternative that is already available could be the Zotac RTX 4060 Twin.
