Khadas has announced that its innovative modular mini PC is now available via more conventional sales channels, having started out as a Kickstarter hit that garnered it over US$690,000 in backer rewards. Its retail units now start at just under US$800, although the accessories that turn it into a laptop-like PC or an RTX-powered workstation are optional extras.

Khadas has now brought its blockbuster Kickstarter campaign for the Mind "modular workstation" to an end with assurances that it will start shipping rewards to its 555 backers by October 30, 2023. In the meantime, those who missed out on those offers can just go ahead and order one from Amazon instead.

The novel modular mini PC is now listed on that site as well as its own khadas.com store, starting at US$799 for a standalone Mind with the Intel Core i5-1340P processor, 16GB of LPDDR5-5200 RAM and a 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD.

An upgrade to the 32GB/1TB Premium model with a Core i7-1360P platform instead would cost US$1,099 via either retail channel. Khadas and Amazon also now stock the Mind's Expansion Dock (with extra I/O such as an SD card reader, a 3.5mm jack and USB type-A) for US$179 more.

However, the xPlay module required for a laptop-like interface and the Mind Graphics module onto which the mini-PC is designed to dock in order to access an 8GB RTX 4060 Ti card have yet to become available.
