AcePC Wizbox AI mini PC review: Intel Meteor Lake goes mini
AcePC Electronics LLC was established in 2017 in Dover, Delaware, USA, as a comprehensive enterprise integrating product design, R&D, production, sales, and service. The AcePC branch is located in China and is assembling a wide range of mini PCs available all across the world. The company's latest lineup comes in the form of the Wizbox AI, which is powered by Intel's latest Core Ultra processors. This year, such Meteor Lake-powered models will battle for the performance crown with mini PCs featuring AMD's Phoenix and Hawk Point APUs.

Case
Compared to other mini PCs with similar performance, the AcePC Wizbox AI comes with a relatively larger and heavier case that measures 147 x 147 x 55.55 mm (5.79 x 5.79 x 2.19 inches). The design is clean and minimalist, featuring a metallic chassis sandwiched between solid plastic top and bottom covers AcePC offers this model only in black and users can opt for a matte or shiny top. Without the included 120 W power supply unit, the mini PC weighs 840 g (1.85 lbs).
Connectivity
Given the larger size of this model combined with a higher price, we would have expected a wider selection of ports. The front panel features a USB-C 3.2 10 Gbps connector, together with two USB-A 3.2 5 Gbps ports and the audio jack. Two more USB-A 3.2 5 Gbps ports as well as two HDMI 2.1 video outputs plus a 2.5 GbE jack and the standard Kensington lock are located on the rear side. This selection without a Thunderbolt 4 port appears to be the bare minimum accepted for Meteor Lake devices. We have seen smaller mini PCs like the Minisforum EliteMini UM780 XTX with dual 2.5 GbE jacks, double USB4 connectors and a more diverse video output selection including DP and OCulink for a lower price, so AcePC definitely has room for improvement in this department.
Communication
For the wired communication side, AcePC includes a Realtek RTL8125 NIC capable of reaching 2.5 Gbps Ethernet transfer speeds, which is currently the standard for this price range. On the wireless side, however, the AcePC impresses with the inclusion of a Wi-Fi 7 + Bluetooth 5.4 solution via an Intel Wi-Fi 7 BE200 card, which was launched in Q3 last year. The Wizbox Ai mini PC is among the very first to feature such a speedy wireless solution. Intel’s Wi-Fi 7 BE200 is compatible with TX/RX streams of up to 320 MHz, supports 2.4 / 5 / 6 GHz bands and can reach transfer speeds of up to 5.8 Gbps. Unfortunately, Windows 11 does not yet provide support for Wi-Fi 7 so we could only test the Wi-Fi 6E speeds.
The AcePC Wizbox AI offers slightly better speeds on the 6E 5 GHz band compared to the Minisforum UM780 XTX, but it is 40% slower than the Intel NUC 13 Pro. However, on the 6 GHz band, the AcePC Wizbox AI takes the lead by around 10% over the NUC 13 Pro.
Accessories
Besides the power cable for the power supply unit, AcePC includes a few other accessories along with the mini PC unit such as a USB-A to USB-A cable and a VESA mount with screws that allow the unit to be mounted on a wall or behind a monitor.
Maintenance
The bottom lid can easily be removed by unscrewing the rubber feet and it also has an attached fan to cool the SSDs and the RAM modules. Our review unit came with one M.2 2280 SSD, but there is another M.2 slot for up to 4 TB capacity. RAM capacity can be expanded up to 96 GB thanks to the included support for the new 48 GB DDR5 modules. Unfortunately, the top lid cannot be removed to access the CPU cooler.
Warranty
This model benefits from a 24-month world-wide warranty, AcePC also allows dissatisfied customers to return the product within 30 days and get a full refund.
Performance
AcePC offers Core Ultra 5 125H and Core Ultra 7 155H processor options from the new Intel Meteor Lake lineup. Since these are the first Intel processors to integrate an NPU for AI tasks as well as a more powerful iGPU, a comparison with AMD’s Phoenix models seems appropriate. The Core Ultra 7 155H powering the reviewed unit from AcePC is the mid-range model in its lineup, so the test results were compared to AMD’s Ryzen 7 7840HS. In order to see how things improved from the previous Intel Raptor Lake generation, the comparison also includes a mini PC powered by the i7-1360P processor. Furthermore, we added a mini PC powered by the Ryzen 7 7735HS as a step-down option and another one with Core i7-13700H as a higher TDP alternative. Complementing the Meteor Lake processor are 32 GB of DDR5-4800 RAM from Kingston and a 512 GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD.
Testing Conditions
This mini PC only features a “balanced” power plan, which was used throughout the entire suite of tests without modifying power limits and TDPs. No energy-saving plans were added. The default TDP is 28 W, but in maximum loads (stress test or more demanding games / content creation suites), the PL1 power may reach 65 W while the PL2 power can go as high as 90 W.
Processor
As the upper-mid-range solution in the Intel Meteor Lake stack, the Core Ultra 7 155H processor combines 6 performance cores boosting at up to 4.8 Ghz with 8 efficiency cores and 2 more low-power cores running at a maximum of 3.8 GHz. Only the performance cores feature hyperthreading so the total number of threads is 22. The SoC also includes an 8-core iGPU based on the Arc Alchemist architecture running at up to 2.3 GHz plus an AI Boost NPU clocked at 1.4 GHz.
Analyzing the CPU synthetic benchmark results on the Core Ultra 7 155H processor, we see considerable improvements on the multicore performance side compared to the previous Raptor Lake with similar TDP, but the single core results are not that clear cut. In Cinebench R20, for example, the i7-1360P emerges victorious over Meteor Lake and even AMD’s R7 7840HS. In fact, there is no single core test where Meteor Lake manages to beat Raptor Lake. AMD’s Phoenix, on the other hand, wins most multi-core tests and shows decent single-core performance.

System Performance
Office and web applications perform well on the Meteor Lake chip, certainly better overall compared to the previous Raptor Lake variant, yet it still slightly lags behind the AMD Phoenix APU. The Core Ultra 7 155H records the highest scores in PCMark 10 Digital Content Creation and CrossMark Responsiveness tests, but it falls behind Phoenix and Raptor Lake when it comes to website script processing.

DPC Latency
The Intel Core Ultra 7 155H shows some of the lowest latency values recorded on any mini PC to date. The results are considerably better than those recorded on an AMD's Phoenix APUs and slightly better compared to the previous gen i7-1360P. 4K YouTube videos have fewer dropped frames compared to AMD's Phoenix APU, but Raptor Lake i7-1360P wins here with 0 drooped frames.

Storage Devices
This is the first time we encounter a Rayson NVMe SSD and it looks like the performance is not on par with the usual solutions. Compared to more prominent brands like Kingston and Samsung, the Rayson 512 GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD is more than 30% slower on average. One of the more severe discrepancies is recorded in the DiskSpd Read loop, where the Rayson SSD maintains comparable speeds only for 5 runs and then slows down by more than 50%. Such results are caused by thermal throttling, most likely on the PCIe 4.0 controller. HWInfo reports that one of the SSD sensors recorded a maximum of 91° C during the DiskSpd stress test. Even though the mini PC features a dedicated fan for the SSDs and RAM DIMMs on the bottom side, the fan speed was at 20-30% during the test. The SSD could benefit from at least a thermal pad.

GPU Performance
The 8-core Arc iGPU is based on Intel’s Xe LPG architecture and features 128 Xe vector engines, 8 ray tracing units, 8 samplers and 4 pixel backends. The iGPU is manufactured on TSMC’s N5 nodes and the core boost speeds may reach 2.3 GHz.
Looking at the 3DMark and 3DMark 11 synthetic test results, the Intel’s 8-core Xe GPU integrated in the Core Ultra 7 155H is almost as fast as the Radeon 780M on the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS. The Intel iGPU slightly lags behind the AMD one in most tests except for the Time Spy one where it is 16% faster than the Radeon 780M . Compared to the Raptor Lake Iris Xe graphics on the NUC 13 Pro, the new Meteor Lake 8-core iGPU shows improvements of over 50% on average.

Gaming Performance
While the Arc iGPU was closely trailing the AMD Radeon 780M in synthetic tests, sometimes even beating it, the situation is different with game tests. The Arc lineup includes Intel’s first discrete GPUs in almost two decades, and despite significant efforts to quickly improve the driver side, some compatibility issues are still inevitable. As such, that few percent lag behind the AMD iGPU with the synthetic tests is increasing significantly when we analyze gaming performance.
Overall, the Intel Arc iGPU is 35% slower than the Radeon 780M and 20% faster than the previous gen Iris Xe 96EU. In demanding titles like X-Plane 11.11, the Arc iGPU is only 2-3% slower, but when activating maximum anti-aliasing in GTA V, the Intel model is more than 2x slower than the Radeon 780M, while in Witcher 3, it is 52% slower. This slowdown is usually caused by the TGP resttrictions imposed by OEMs and it is heavily reliant on the RAM speeds.
Furthermore, the absence of a Thunderbolt or OCulink port limits this mini PC to iGPU use cases with no access to dGPU solutions. AcePC's future-proofing efforts are almost non-existent here.

NPU performance
Since this is the first mini PC we get to test with an Intel Core Ultra processor featuring an NPU, and because the AMD Phoenix and Hawk Point NPUs are not yet supported in the UL Procyon suite, we currently have no way to provide a more insightful result comparison.
Emissions
System Noise
While idle, the AcePC Wizbox AI is completely silent up to the point when CPU temperatures start to rise slightly and the fan from the bottom side enters a loop where it starts and stops frequently, creating a rather annoying rattle that may affect more sensitive persons. This problem aside, the AcePC Wizbox AI proves to be the quietest model overall compared to the UM780 XTX and the NUC 13 Pro. The average load and maximum load loudness results are almost the same on the AcePC model, as the fans just ramp to maximum after a certain core temperature threshold.

Temperature
AcePC is equipping the Wizbox AI mini PC with a cooling system that includes a smaller fan at the button that draws cool air to ventilate the RAM and SSDs, as well as a bigger heatsink with 2 heatpipes and a larger fan to cool the processor on the top side. Naturally, the higher temperatures are recorded underneath the top cover. In idle state, the top cover hot spot sits at just over 40o C, while in medium load it reaches 41.4o C, and the stress test raises temps up to 62.2o C. Average case temperatures measure 32.45o C in idle and around 34.25o C in stress test. Additionally, CPU package temps measure 50o C in idle and 62o C in medium load.
(+) The maximum temperature on the upper side is 36 °C / 97 F, compared to the average of 35.5 °C / 96 F, ranging from 26 to 69.5 °C for the class Mini PC.
(±) The bottom heats up to a maximum of 40.3 °C / 105 F, compared to the average of 36.9 °C / 98 F
(+) In idle usage, the average temperature for the upper side is 30.6 °C / 87 F, compared to the device average of 32.2 °C / 90 F.

Stress Test
The CPU side of the Core Ultra 7 155H SoC is somewhat affected by throttling, but not as much as the GPU side during the one-hour prime95 + Furmark stress test. Core temperatures fluctuate between 80 and 87 C, with more pronounced oscillations towards the beginning of the test. A similar behavior is recorded for the CPU package power that reaches 66.76 W in the first 5 minutes, but then stabilizes at around 56 W towards the end. CPU clocks see a more pronounced variation between 2.5 and 2.9 GHz.
In contrast, the iGPU side seems to be more affected by throttling. This is made clear by the abundance of core frequency spikes and the GT core power that shoots up to 18 W in the beginning and then drops to near 5 W several times, leading to Furmark fps counts between ~20 fps whenever power bottomed and almost 40 fps whenever power peaked.

Power Consumption
Despite being advertised as more power efficient than Raptor Lake, AcePC's implementation of the Meteor Lake platform appears to draw 8% more power in idle and 15% more power in average loads. We also noted spikes between 29 and 49 W in idle. Maximum loads, however, are drawing at least 7% less power than the other competitors. The R7 7735HS processor in this case is the most power hungry with up to 47% more power consumed in average load scenarios. AcePC provides a 120W PSU that can easily handle the maximum load of 91 W.

Pros
Cons
Verdict
Meteor Lake’s mini PC debut is overall a solid evolution from similarly powered previous gen Raptor Lake processors. The Core Ultra 7 155H model on the AcePC Wizbox AI shows notable performance uplift across the board thanks to its fast hybrid CPU cluster combined with an 8-core Arc iGPU as well as an NPU. On rare occasions, it even beats the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS integrating the Radeon 780M GPU, but most of the time it is trailing behind Team Red’s model.
The AcePC Wizbox AI also impresses with the included Intel BE200 Wi-Fi 7 + Bluetooth 5.4 card that is usually available on high-end laptops. While we could not test the full capacity of the new wireless standard, the 6 GHz Wi-Fi 6E performance of the Wizbox AI is among the best in its class. Build quality and design are good, but the system is larger and heavier than its AMD-based competitors, which actually works in this model’s favor since it comes with a larger CPU cooler that is certainly quieter than most similar solutions in full load. Another strong suit for this model is the maximum 96 GB RAM capacity together with the dual M.2 slots for NVMe SSD storage. The RAM DIMMs and the SSDs can easily be accessed from the bottom side, although the case design does not allow easy access to the CPU cooler. DPC latency is also better than anything we have seen from the competition.
AcePC's Intel Core Ultra 7 155H Meteor Lake implementation is commendable, with great performance gains over the previous gen Raptor Lake models. The new NPU for AI workloads and the support for Wi-Fi 7 + BT 5.4 are also excellent future-proof additions on the Wizbox AI mini PC.
As far as disadvantages go, we noted the relatively barebones port selection. While the competition is offering dual LAN jacks, USB4 or Thunderbolt 4 connectors and even OCulink ports, the AcePC Wizbox AI mini PC only features a 10 Gbps USB-C port as the fastest one and a single 2.5 GbE jack. Additionally, the supplied SSD comes from a rather unknown company and the performance is lacking, whereas the provided DDR5 DIMMs could have featured faster speeds, but users can easily upgrade these. Despite the good cooling performance, the chassis appears to get hotter even in idle states. Surprisingly, AcePC's take on the Meteor Lake-H platform only proved more efficient at maximum loads but not at medium loads or in idle state when compared to the previous gen Raptor Lake-P models. Without any current promotion, the price is also a concern, since the AMD-powered Minisforum competitors cost at least two times less.
Price and Availability
This model can be purchased directly from AcePC's site for $1,199.99. There was a brief promotion that brought the price down to $783,99, and AcePC says something similar should be applied soon.
