Geekom announces XT12 Pro mini PC with Intel Alder Lake CPU
Geekom unveiled a new mini PC powered by Intel's 12th Gen Core i9 CPU.
The Geekom XT12 Pro is a compact desktop computer with an aluminum chassis. The XT12 Pro is powered by up to an Intel Core i9-12900H, up to 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM (across two DIMMs), and up to two M.2 SSDs.
The PC measures 11.7 x 11.1 x 3.9 cm (4.61 x 4.37 x 1.54 in) and weighs about 550 g. Like Geekom's other mini PCs, the XT12 Pro can be mounted to the back of a monitor or display via a VESA mount.
Port selection is rather robust, including two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) ports and a headset jack on the front. The rear houses two USB4 (40 Gbps) ports with DisplayPort support, two HDMI 2.0 ports, another USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 port, a USB-A 2.0 port, and a 2.5 Gigabit LAN port.
The XT12 Pro looks like an upgrade to the company's Mini IT12, which packs either an Intel Core i5-12450H or Core i7-12650H. The I/O between the two machines looks identical, as do the cases (save for the white color of the XT12 Pro). However, the XT12 Pro looks to be a bit more than half a centimeter shorter than the Mini IT12, meaning it may not support a 2.5-inch drive like the Mini IT12.
In our review of the Mini IT12, we noted it offered good performance with solid maintenance options. The inclusion of two USB4 40 Gbps ports was also a highlight, and the XT12 Pro will have those ports as well. However, we also noted the Core i5-12450H model seemed to underperform compared to other mini PCs with the Core i5-12450H. As such, it will be interesting to see how the much more power-hungry Core i9-12900H will fare in the XT12 Pro.
Geekom has yet to announce pricing for the XT12 Pro. The desktop should be available sometime in April.
