Abxylute has now opened pre-orders for a nostalgic twist on its popular mobile controller lineup, less than twenty-four hours after teasing its impending release. To recap, we went hands-on with the original Axylute S9 over a year ago (curr. $62.90 on Amazon).
Ultimately, Abxylute's Retro Grey Edition is mainly a visual refresh channelling 90s aesthetics with predominantly grey tones, this special edition arguably draws on the colours of a classic PlayStation 1 DualShock as much as a SNES controller. For instance, the yellow, green, blue and red ABXY buttons are an obvious nod to the Japanese and PAL-region versions of Nintendo's early 90s console.
With that being said, Abxylute has ordered the ABXY buttons in Microsoft's preferred layout rather than Nintendo's. Pre-orders for the S9 Retro SNES Grey Edition are now open with an Early Bird price of $62. Please note that Abxylute will honor this price until November 20, after which the Retro Grey Edition will increase to its $89 MSRP pending any Black Friday deals.
Moreover, Early Bird pre-orders should start shipping by mid-November. As the image below shows, pre-orders include a random bonus accessory, ranging from coloured faceplates to d-pads or joystick caps. Also, one can enter a chance to win one of ten free Retro SNES Grey Edition controllers. To enter the competition, post about the Retro Grey Edition on gaming subreddits with an image before submitting a link and screenshot to [email protected]. Please see Abxylute's website and our hands-on with the original controller for more details.
