It has been more than a year since Abxylute released the S9 Type-C Mobile Gaming Controller. Now, it has announced that the telescopic controller will get a cosmetic refresh, one that is based on a retro console.
The Abxylute S9 is currently available to buy in a single Black color, however, Abxylute also sells faceplates that owners can purchase to style their controller. Now, it has announced that the controller will be getting a SNES Edition.
According to a teaser image shared on its Discord channel and its X account, the Abxylute S9 Type-C Mobile Gaming Controller SNES Edition will have a light gray grip and faceplates, while the ABXY buttons will be Yellow, Red, Green, and Blue, like the Japanese version of the SNES controller.
It has not yet been revealed when the controller will be released, but the teaser image says it is coming soon. It is also unknown if this SNES edition will cost more. The black version is currently available to buy on Amazon for $62.90, while it costs $69 on the Abxylute website.
Save for the cosmetic difference, the Abxylute S9 SNES Edition should be no different from the standard version. The controller supports several devices with a maximum screen size of 8.8 inches. In addition to working with Android and iOS devices with a USB-C port, the Abxylute S9 also has Bluetooth and can be used as a wireless controller like the Backbone Pro.
Other features are dual rotor motors with four levels of vibration, six-axis motion controls, Hall Effect joysticks and triggers, dual back buttons, an audio jack with a DAC, and a USB-C port for bypass charging.
